if you have any questions.
I have an active member of NAHN for over 14 years. I served as the President and other offices for the Los Angeles Chapter and as a Board member for National. If elected, I will work to increase NAHN’s membership so NAHN will be viewed as a powerful National organization, and to focus on ways to unite ALL NAHN members at all levels so we can lead the process of eliminating Hispanic health disparities.
If I am selected as President Elect, I will serve to the best of my abilities sharing the same ideas that has made the NY chapter one of the fastest growing chapters in the country. One of my first goals would be to bring as much energy to the national office and have it recognized for the great accomplishments Hispanic nurses have contribute to this wonderful profession we call nursing!
"I am committed to improving the image of the minority nurse. My focus includes encouraging minority nurses to achieve higher degrees of learning as being a nurse scholar enables endless possibilities. Too many times we are underrepresented and we are very capable of achieving and succeeding. I would advocate for this using the level of commitment necessary to improve the image of nursing as a representative of our Hispanic culture."
The Vice-President duties should be expanded including presiding over the student membership to keep the President informed of progress and changes. This position should also introduce new ideas of recruitment and retention of members and kept the momentum going for these future nurses.
There should also hold their own meeting during our annual conferences, including planning future meetings if needed. This will enable the committee to address current and future issues.
Rosario is aware of the disproportionate representation of Hispanic mentors and leaders. She believes to have a moral obligation in mentoring others who want to expand their research and practice in the Hispanic population.
Her objective in serving NAHN is to provide a vocal presence in which to relay both academic needs and health issues. Rosario has experience serving the board. Presently, she seeks nomination as Vice President or Board member/director of Policy.
As a proponent of life long learning, I am dedicated to the advancement of the Hispanic nurse, promoting the attainment of entry level practice and higher education.
I will endeavor to obtain and disseminate any and all information available to me concerning achievements in the profession to the Hispanic nursing community through our organization.
If elected I will make every effort to assure that the Hispanic nurses’ voice is recognized and heard throughout the nation.
As an elected secretary it would be an honor to serve and develop the growth and promise of the NAHN. Since joining and organizing a new chapter, I have noted the immense potential of the Latin healthcare members and wish to encourage them to further their career. I believe the dedication of the NAHN leaders is far more committed than other associations and I wish to be a part of that.
I will work to develop a strategic plan that exams mechanisms that will ensure NAHN has a leadership role in Hispanic health care issues, including decreasing health disparities; increasing the Hispanic health care workforce; development of programs that assist recruiting and retaining Hispanics into nursing; seek creative ways to disseminate educational information to Hispanics for the improvement of healthcare, and support innovative, transitional research activities that address the health needs of Hispanic community.
For the last 4 years I have served as the National Board Secretary. I have settled into the demanding, yet rewarding aspects of the administration of our Association. I have discovered great challenges, but also great joys in the public service of our membership and Hispanic community. As a Board Member, I wish to continue honoring the commitment of our members; as well as promote the values Mentorship and community activism.
I have been an active member of NAHN since the beginnings! I seek to continue to serve on the Board as a person of commitment, experience and to meet the challenges of bringing NAHN forward in the 21st century to increase our membership and visibility as the voice of Hispanic Nurses in our communities. Working together with all you and your support in these endeavors will be the success of our accomplishments!
Hello my name is Juan Perez and I am the Outreach Coordinator for the NAHN N.Y chapter. As the Outreach Coordinator, I’m involved in increasing our membership, encouraging our current and future members, and in supporting our local chapters. I have demonstrated this by traveling to Texas, San Diego and Philadelphia to support them in their events. I believe in our organization and what it stands for - the love and care of the Hispanic population
As a Hispanic Registered Nurse with over 25 years of nursing experience in direct patient care, nursing education and leadership I am prepared to demonstrate my leadership abilities. My goals as a board member are to identify strategies that work toward recruitment and retention of Hispanic students in nursing programs. Available research is clear, health care disparities of minorities are unacceptable. Increasing Hispanic nursing students will only contribute to improving health outcomes for Hispanic people.
It is a tremendous privilege to seek your ballot again for re-election as a Board Member. Since joining the NAHN I have served in numerous roles providing me with a wealth of experience to serve our membership. I aim to promote and represent Hispanic Nurses. I will continue to bring passion and enthusiasm to the organization and to increase NAHN membership as I’ve done in the past. I believe diversity is the key to success.

Promoting Hispanic nurses has been my personal and professional commitment. I have the leadership skills and experience to be a board member. I commit my services to NAHN as a member of the Board of Directors. I intend to contribute to the development of policy that promotes growth in nursing education among Hispanics. If elected I will work with ALL members to place NAHN in a position to promote opportunities for members at all levels.
